A few testimonials in only a few years of teaching ballet!

"My daughter has taken both private ballet lessons and ballet classes from Maylu. Under Maylu's guidance my daughter's skills improved in a very short time. Maylu was able to push my daughter past her comfort zone and had her believing in herself. My daughter started dancing when she was in middle school and within a few short years, with Maylu's help, she was dancing with dancers that had much more experience. I would highly recommend Maylu to anyone that is looking for a dedicated teacher and mentor."

- Sue Stryker

“I don’t even know where to start in explaining how much my girls learned and improved from Maylu’s training. Maylu is a tough teacher who expects 100% effort, while at the same time, she is so encouraging and supportive. Over the years watching Maylu teach, the quality that stands out the most was her belief and investment in every student that was willing to work hard. You can feel the energy in the room as she motivates each student to improve and achieve their goals. Another crucial part of Maylu’s teaching is that she knows how to explain proper technique. She can help each student find the muscle that needs to be engaged to execute the demands on a dancer’s body.”

- Lynn Nichols

One of her students, Wynne Wrede, cites Maylu Pena among other wonderful teachers she has had over the years: "Wynne began her dance training at the age of 5 and has had many wonderful teachers over the years, including Maylu Pena, Tatiana Berenova, and Elaine Kudo of the Washington Ballet...”
